The postgraduate programme (PPs) of UIKA Bogor was established in 2000 during the leadership of Rector Chaeruddin Nawawi and Dean of FAI, Didin Hafidhuddin. Preparation for the establishment of PPs was initiated in 1999. At that time, the rector and Dean assigned Didin Saefuddin Buchori to be the chairman of the committee for the establishment of PPs UIKA, accompanied by E. Bahdruddin as secretary.
In October 1999, the committee invited the Secretary of the Directorate General of Islamic Education (formerly Islamic Institutional Development) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (formerly the Ministry of Religious Affairs) of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Syafi’I Mufid, to give a speech at a seminar at UIKA. In a conversation with the leadership of UIKA and FAI, Syafi’i Mufid gave direction that PPs could start operating while the license to the Ministry of Religious Affairs was processed.
The direction from the Secretary General encouraged the committee to prepare everything for the establishment of PPs UIKA. Preparations include issuing a decree from YPIKA, proposing PPs leaders, finding administrative staff, determining the curriculum and prospective lecturers, delivering information to S-1 graduates, preparing for student admissions, finding a secretariat office, and other technical preparations.
The leadership of PPs was temporarily shared by FAI Dean Didin Hafidhuddin as program chairman and FAI Assistant Dean I, Didin Saefuddin Buchori, as program secretary. After his second term in FAI ended in 2000, the rector appointed him as the definitive official in the postgraduate program.
Lectures began on 1 March 2000. The first study program opened was a Master of Islamic Religion with concentrations in Islamic Education and Islamic Law. The PPs operational permit submitted to the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia came down in November 2001 in the form of a Decree of the Director General of Islamic Binbaga No. E/270/2001 dated 20 November 2001.
